Spotlight on Ministries

Throughout the year we will be acknowledging different Clubs, Organizations and Ministries that have made a difference in our community at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Paul. Without our Stewardships, these Ministries, Clubs and Organizations would not be possible. We want our parishioners to become familiar with these different organizations and ministries that have had a positive impact on our community.

This week the Spotlight is on: The Cathedral of Saint Paul Nursery School

Our Mission

Our objective is to provide a stimulating and nurturing environment where children can play and experience educational activities under the umbrella of our Greek Orthodox Christian faith, culture and community.

Our Program

Our Nursery School will be parent participation co-operative. Each class will have one state certified teacher who will be assisted by a participating parent and/or an assistant depending on the number of students. Our program is a happy combination of indoor and outdoor activities, quiet and livelier times, individual and group experiences. Classroom projects are geared toward skill enhancement through fun-oriented methods and approaches

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on multi-sensory activities and learning through play. There is an educational focus on calendar & weather, colors, shapes, numbers and letter recognition. The Greek language will be infused into the curriculum via books and educational DVD clips focusing on a variety of topics, including colors, songs and short stories. For more information please contact Anna Possas at 516 822-9439.

Project Renaissance

A little boy was waiting for his mother  to come out of the grocery store. As he waited, he was approached by a man who asked, "Son, can you tell me where the post office is?" The little boy replied, "Sure, just go straight down the street a couple of blocks and turn to your right." The man thanked the boy kindly and said, "I'm the new priest in town, and I'd like for you to come to church on Sunday. I'll show you how to get to Heaven." The little boy replied with a chuckle, "Awww, come on; you don't even know the way to the post office!"

Several parishioners have answered our plea to increase their pledges to Project Renaissance. We thank them for their continued generosity and hope that everyone will follow their example. If you have not made a pledge, please do so. Pledge cards are available in the Church office.

Stewardship Corner...Modern Luxuries & Stewardship

Orthodox Christian Stewardship is a way of life, which acknowledges accountability, reverence, and responsibility before God. A primary goal of Stewardship is to promote spiritual growth and strengthen faith. Becoming a Steward begins when we believe in God, to whom we give our love, loyalty and trust and act on those beliefs. As Stewards, we affirm that every aspect of our lives comes as a gift from Him. Stewardship calls on the faithful to cheerfully offer back to God a portion of the gifts with which they have been blessed.  If you have not yet pledged for Stewardship 2012, please do, the benefits are eternal.  If you'd like to learn more about Stewardship and giving of your time and talent, please contact our clergy or indicate this on the ?Time & Talent? section of the Stewardship Commitment Card.  It is important that everyone submits their 2012 Stewardship Commitment Card and completed their 2011 Stewardship Commitments as soon as possible in January to maintain their status of ?Steward in Good Standing?.  Please stop by the Cathedral Office to obtain a Stewardship Commitment Card if you have misplaced the one mailed to you . December or if you have not yet received one.

Try to remember all the ways that God has blessed you, and offer a portion of those gifts back to His Holy Church.
